I put one ice cube on a metal spoon and another on a plastic plate. They were the same size at first.
After five minutes, the ice on the metal spoon was much smaller. The spoon felt cold in my hand, too.
My science teacher said metal carries heat better than plastic. Heat moved from the room, through the spoon, and into the ice.
The ice did not melt faster because the spoon was warm. It melted faster because the spoon moved heat well.
