A pain in my shoulder appeared during swim practice. It was mild at first, so I searched online and found several confident explanations. None could tell what was happening in my own body. I kept training because the final meet was close.
When the pain returned, I told my coach and family. The coach stopped that practice and helped me contact an appropriate healthcare professional. I described when the pain appeared, what movements made it worse, and what I had already tried. I did not turn the internet's list of possibilities into a diagnosis.
While I waited for guidance, my teammates planned the meet without assuming I would compete. I was disappointed, but their honesty removed pressure to promise something I might not be able to do. Later, I returned to the pool according to the advice I had received, at a pace different from my original plan.
Speaking up had felt like letting the team down. In fact, silence would have left everyone working from a story that was not true.

游泳训练时，我的肩膀开始疼。最初不算严重，我便上网搜索，看到几种说得很肯定的解释；没有一种能判定我身体里究竟发生了什么。因为决赛临近，我继续训练。
疼痛再次出现，我告诉了教练和家人。教练让我停止当天训练，并帮我联系合适的医护人员。我说明疼痛何时出现、哪些动作使它加重，以及自己试过什么，没有把网上列出的可能性当作诊断。
等待专业意见期间，队友安排比赛时没有预设我一定参赛。我很失望，但他们的坦诚减轻了我必须许下无法兑现承诺的压力。后来，我按照得到的建议，以不同于原计划的节奏回到泳池。
主动说出疼痛，起初像是辜负队伍。事实上，如果我一直沉默，大家只能依据一个不真实的情况作安排。
