During a hot afternoon practice, Toma stopped running and leaned against the fence. “I'm fine,” he said, but his face looked pale. I did not know what was wrong, and I did not want to leave him alone.
I called our coach. She stopped practice, moved us to a cooler place, and asked another adult to contact the school nurse. I stayed nearby and listened when Toma spoke. I did not try to decide what illness he had.
Later, Toma thanked me for calling the coach. I said I had been afraid he would be angry. “I wasn't,” he replied. “I just couldn't explain clearly at that moment.” Asking an adult for help had been the most useful thing I could do.

我叫来教练。她暂停训练，带我们去凉快些的地方，还请另一位大人联系学校护士。我待在附近，听透真说话，并没有试着判断他得了什么病。
后来，透真谢谢我叫来了教练。我说自己还担心他会生气。‘没有，’他回答，‘只是那一刻我说不清楚自己的情况。’向大人求助，是我当时最有用的行动。
