At the beginning of this book, some words looked like small stones on the road. They stopped me. I had to slow down.
But after reading many stories, the stones began to connect. A word from basketball appeared in a lesson about effort. A word from piano helped me understand practice. A word from fishing became part of a story about safety.
Words are not just things to memorize. They are links between your life and the world.
When words connect, reading becomes a way forward.

刚开始读这本书时，有些单词像路上的小石子，挡住我，让我不得不放慢脚步。
可是读过许多故事后，那些石子慢慢连了起来。篮球故事里的一个词，出现在谈努力的一课；钢琴故事里的一个词，帮助我理解练习；钓鱼故事里的一个词，又成了安全故事的一部分。
单词不只是要背下来的东西，它们还是连接自己生活与外面世界的纽带。
