I thought I went to bed at about the same time every night. For a health class, I kept a simple sleep log for one week. I wrote down when I put my phone away, when I turned off the light, and how I felt during the first lesson.

The record surprised me. On nights before practice, I stayed up later than I remembered, often to answer messages about the next day. On two mornings, I felt tired, but the log alone could not prove exactly why. Homework, worry, and the early train might also have played a part.

I talked with my family and made one small change: after a set time, our team would post only urgent practice information. I also prepared my bag earlier. A week later, my evenings felt less rushed.

The log did not give me a perfect rule for sleep. It helped me see a pattern I had missed and choose a change I could actually try.
